Dennis Burgess

Denny Burgess is a singer/bass player from successful 60s bands that include The Throb, Masters Apprentices, and The Whispers. In the 70s and early 80s, Denny spent 11 years living in London, where he performed with a variety of UK groups such as Ginger and the George Hatcher Band.

After returning to Australia, Denny and his drummer brother Colin Burgess (AC/DC, Masters Apprentices), played together for some years in His Majesty, Blackboard Jungle and Good Time Charlie. In 2001 a documentary about the 2 brothers’ lives in music, entitled The Comeback Kings, was made by Carson Arts Management, and narrated by James Valentine. Denny was also signed to Warner Chappell Music as a songwriter. These days, the Burgess brothers still perform occasionally with their band BurgessBurgess.

Previously on the National Board of the Music Managers Forum (MMF), Denny is currently Chairman of the Australian Songwriters Association (ASA), Vice Chairman and honorary Treasurer of the Association of Artists Managers (AAM), and Chairman of the Australian Songwriters Official National Group (ASONG). He now heads Denny Burgess Management and Regal Records, an independent label that explored the South-East Asian market in the 90’s and these days releases young original bands. Denny is also an active member of both the Association of Independent Record Labels (AIR), and music industry benevolent group Support Act Limited (SAL). He also has sporting and corporate interests as a Director of Wests Tigers Rugby League Club, Wests Ashfield Leagues, and Western Suburbs District Rugby League Football Club. In addition, Denny is on the Board of Ronald McDonald House Charities.

The latest acquisition of Burgess Ventures is Hotsource.com.au, the Australian internet site for all things music! Denny committed to making it the most useful and active place for the general Australian music community to interact.

As owner and Managing Director of A Red Letter Day (Event Management), Denny enjoys the variety and excitement of the many shows run by this company. He draws from his 30 years experience in showbusiness and entertainment, and his passion for 'a superb show', to provide professional excellence at the best price for A Red Letter Day clientele.
